Geocaching is a brand new form of tresure hunting using high-tech GPS tracking. The idea is use your GPS to find hidden containers, known as geocaches. All of this is done in the ourdoors so it’s a great way to get some fresh air and excersize.

All you need to do is have a walkers GPS and an account on http://www.geocaching.com/. From there you can search for geocaches in your area and grab starting coordinates. An encrypted clue tells you the location of the geocache e.g. under a rock by a mossy tree or under a log.

The geocaches range in size from a small box to a tiny thumbnail case. Once you have found the geocache you add your user name to the log in the cache. For some of the bigger geocaches you leave a small token and take the token in the cache to be places on your next geocache adventure.

You can log the whole event, give the geocache a rating and put your pictures online. So head over to www.geocaching.com where is free to sign up but there is also a premium paid service
