After your camping trip it’s vital to ensure that your storing your camping equipment correctly. First of all tents. Dry the tent off, it’s essential that you don’t store the tent wet otherwise the wetness can create a real stink and even start fungi growing.
If your tent is dirty from mud you’ll want to give it a wash too, the mud can cause areas of the tent to shrink as the mud dries. An easy way to clean is by laying out on grass, wetting with a hose and scrubbing with a soft brush / broom.
To get the tent dry either put it up and hope for no rain or put on the washing line. It will take time to try as most tens will hold the water on the surface, a good shake will get the majority of the water off.
Now for storage, if you can place the tent back in its original bag. This sometimes can be a task folding it up small enough but it did fit in the bag when you bought it do it will now. Store in a metal cabinet which will keep any damp out, if you haven’t got one ask your local big business who often throw out office furniture and give it to staff and locals for free. At home I have I large metal cabinet with 5 shelves that store all my camping equipment.
