Sierra Designs product development team are trying to make tents ligher by coming up with some revolutionary new tent designs.

They have concentrated on improving poll design, they have come up with the Eye Pole Configuration. This reduces a older tent called the Meteor Light by 2 pounds. Although it doesn’t seem much when you have to carry it around for many days on end 2 pounds can make all the difference.

The product manager at Sierra Designs Phil Mesdag explained.

“The Meteor light has always been the tent of choice for the experienced backpacker. The new Eye Pole Configuration™ offers more usable interior space in a package that is significantly lighter than the former design.”

Sierra, like many other companies are also starting to use more green materials, so an increase on using polyester.
