The Scout Association are goign to be offering scouts sexual health information and relationships advice. The information is going to Taylored to 14 to 18 year olds and the idea behind the new procedure is the boys are more likley to listen to their scout leaders than teachers.
Chief Scout Peter Duncan said:
“We must be realistic and accept that around a third of young people are sexually active before 16. (It) encourage young people to resist pressure to have early sex” and to talk to their parents or carers, but “should be prepared to offer appropriate information” if it is needed.
The younger beavers and subs, 10-14 are not to be included in the plan. The idea is that the scouts will discuss the information with each other under the supervision of a scout leader.
