Over the weekend I was lucky enough to to attend one BBQ and host one barbecue. Two different methods were used.
1. Lighter blocks are placed at the bottom of the BBQ. Pilled on top 1 and a half layers of coals. A lighted match then thrown into the middle and this way the coals have a good 5 minutes of heat and flames from below.
2. Pile on the coals in a large pile, then add half a bottle of lighter fluid and finnaly a match. This method was very spectacular but very dangerous with a two foot flame coming off the BBQ. Also the coals at the bottom of the pile were not lite.
Method 1 was the winner and the safest. Please do remember that when lighting BBQ’s to be very careful and lighting fluid should be only be used in moderation and from a distance.
The weather is going to be continuing to be great so enjoy your BBQ’s!
