So you want to know how to build a fire pit for camping. It’s pretty simple but it does require that the ground you are on can be easily dug out.

You need to make sure that your not going to be too near to any buildings or any tents. Below any trees that could set on fire too.

Once you have dug your hole, maybe one to two foot wide and a foot deep you need to line the bottom with gravel or sand or you’ll find it hard to light. Also the pit will be good to use another few times. The gravel or sand should then reach to the top of the hole and then you can line the top with stones or bricks to keep the fire wood inside the circle. You can construct a frame over the fire for boiling water or roasting roadkill.
