The Camping and Caravan club have been working to promote the accessibility at their sites around the UK. Do to this they use a three badge system rating the campsite according to disabled access at the site. The three levels are;

Full Disabled Facilities
No Disabled Facilities
Part Disabled Facilities

It’s hard for some campsites to comply, many not be able to afford to flatten paths, concrete areas, wheel in showers. As well as checking campsites there are also checks for log cabins etc ramps, large doorways, adjustable beds, hand rails etc

It’s also important that wheelchair uses prepare for camping with adapted wheelchairs, plenty of waterproofs, touches and most importanlty a spare phone in case of emergencies.

You can get a off road wheel chair from trekinetic who make custom ground breaking all terrain chairs. Chairs come with suspension, protector plates, attached umbrella, carbon fibre seats to name but a few features.

They also feature breaks rather than having to grip the rims to slow down. One of these chairs will cost you around £2 k plus but it should mean you’ll be able to navigate up mountains, over hills a little quicker provided you still have help from a few friends.
